Yifan Cheng, PhD, UCSF and HHMI<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Department of Biochemistry and the CSB will host Dr. Yifan Cheng<\/a>, University of California San Francisco (UCSF), as The Discovery Lecture Series speaker on Thursday, March 9, at 4pm in 208 Light Hall.<\/p>\n

Dr. Cheng is an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and professor of biochemistry and biophysics at UCSF. His lab uses cryo-EM to study structures of biological macromolecules, particularly integral membrane proteins and dynamic complexes. During his seminar, Single Particle Cryo-EM of INO80: The Basis of its Mechanistic Versatility<\/em>, Dr. Cheng will present an introduction on the current technological status of single particle cryo-EM as well as his lab’s recent work on applying the technique to study ATP dependent chromatin remodeling complex INO80.<\/p>\n
