{"id":15334,"date":"2021-03-17T11:03:13","date_gmt":"2021-03-17T16:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/ohare\/?page_id=15334"},"modified":"2026-04-08T14:21:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T19:21:42","slug":"summer-housing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/ohare\/summer-housing\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Housing"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>General Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Summer 2026 on-campus housing is available to the following Vanderbilt undergraduate students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students enrolled in Maymester and\/or summer session courses (during the terms which they are enrolled)\n<ul>\n<li>Including Maymester trip participants who require housing after the residence halls close on Saturday, May 2 at 9 a.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Student athletes in competition, courses, and\/or research\/internships<\/li>\n<li>Students who meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/publications.tnsosfiles.com\/acts\/111\/pub\/pc0266.pdf\">Tennessee definition of homelessness<\/a><\/li>\n<li>International students with safety-based travel concerns or visa issues (Requests will be vetted in collaboration with Global Safety, ISSS, and Student Care Coordination.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All students who apply for summer housing and meet the above criteria will be provided summer housing.<\/p>\n<p>Students graduating in May 2026 and students who withdraw from the university during the spring 2026 semester are not eligible for summer 2026 on-campus housing.\u00a0 Students and recent graduates who need assistance identifying housing in the Nashville area are welcome to utilize the <a href=\"http:\/\/offcampushousing.vanderbilt.edu\/\">Off-Campus Housing Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Summer housing will be located in Carmichael College.\u00a0 Continuing upper-division students will be assigned to traditional single rooms (pending space availability).\u00a0 If the supply of traditional single rooms is exhausted, students will be assigned to traditional double rooms with a roommate.\u00a0 Students who prefer to reside in a traditional double room with a roommate can submit a roommate request on their application.\u00a0 Roommate requests must be mutual.<\/p>\n<p>Incoming first-year students will be assigned to traditional double rooms with a roommate.<\/p>\n<p>Vanderbilt students participating in summer academic internships or research programs who are interested in summer on-campus housing should contact Conferences and Events at <a href=\"mailto:internhousing@vanderbilt.edu\">internhousing@vanderbilt.edu<\/a>.\u00a0 Additional information is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/conferences\/intern-housing\/\">Academic Intern Housing website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We are unable to provide summer housing to non-Vanderbilt students.\u00a0 Students enrolled at other institutions completing academic internships or research in the Nashville area are welcome to apply for Academic Intern Housing through Conferences and Events.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Summer Housing Application &amp; Move-In Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Summer Housing Application Opens:<\/strong>\u00a0 Tuesday, March 17<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All students who meet the above criteria will be offered housing.\u00a0 Students who do not qualify will be contacted.\u00a0 Applications must be submitted no later than Sunday, April 26 at 5 p.m. CDT for students requiring housing immediately upon completion of the spring 2026 semester, or at least 2 business days prior to scheduled move in for future terms\/dates.<\/li>\n<li>As Housing and Residential Experience begins to prepare the halls for fall 2026 residents, requests to move into summer housing after Friday, July 17 will not be considered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Summer Housing Move-In Information<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All students should report directly to the Carmichael College front desk upon their arrival to receive their specific room assignment and room key.\u00a0 Specific room assignment information is not available prior to move in.\u00a0 Please review the information below for move-in\/out dates.<\/li>\n<li>Students may utilize the West End Neighborhood while moving in.\u00a0 Vehicles are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">not<\/span> permitted in the fire lane behind Zeppos and Rothschild College or in the Zeppos archway.\u00a0 A vehicle dashboard pass must be obtained from the Carmichael desk.\u00a0 Vehicles that exceed the 30-minute limit, unload in restricted areas, or block the flow of traffic are subject to ticketing\/removal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Summer Housing Rates<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Students enrolled in Maymester, Summer Session 1, and Summer Session 2 courses are billed a flat-rate for the specific term.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maymester:\u00a0 $1,842<\/li>\n<li>Summer Session 1:\u00a0 $2,303<\/li>\n<li>Summer Session 2:\u00a0 $2,303<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>International students not enrolled in courses are billed utilizing the daily rate of $65.80\/day.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Summer Bicycle Registration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Summer residents with bicycles are required to register with Housing &amp; Residential Experience (HRE) beginning Monday, May 11.<\/p>\n<p>Please visit the HRE main office in the Baker Building suite 110 within one (1) week of your arrival to complete your registration.\u00a0 The office is open Monday &#8211; Any questions should be directed to your supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><u><b>Fall Housing Transition\u00a0Information<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students residing in summer housing during Summer Session 2 are eligible to apply to move directly into their fall on-campus housing assignments (Nashville only). Due to an extra week in the university calendar upon conclusion of the summer term, students who wish to move directly into their fall assignments will be billed for one (1) additional week of housing.\u00a0 Students who check out of summer housing prior to Saturday, August 8 will be required to completely vacate their summer space and will not be eligible to request to move into their Fall 2026 housing assignment until upper-division student move in on Sunday, August 23.\u00a0 Information regarding moving to fall assignments will be emailed to eligible students in mid-July.<\/p>\n<p>Students who do not apply to transition directly to their fall assignment must vacate summer housing no later than Saturday, August 8 at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Application to Move to Fall Housing Dates:\n<ul>\n<li>Application Opens:\u00a0 Monday, July 20, 2026 at 8 a.m. CDT<\/li>\n<li>Application Closes:\u00a0 Thursday, July 23 at 5 p.m. CDT<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Cost:\u00a0 $460.60<\/li>\n<li>Move Details:\n<ul>\n<li>Students who apply and are approved to move directly to their fall 2026 housing assignments should plan to complete their move on Saturday, August 8.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Students who depart Nashville prior to completing their move will be subject to late check-out charges and additional fees<\/span>.\u00a0 Requests to move before or after Saturday, August 8 will not be considered.<\/li>\n<li>Students with single and double room fall assignments in Carmichael College may be unable to complete their move until Sunday, August 9 if their space is occupied by a summer resident.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Summer Housing Check-Out Instructions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>General Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Resident check-out dates will vary throughout the summer.<\/li>\n<li>Residents are responsible for removing all personal items, rental items, and trash from their spaces prior to departing.\u00a0 On-campus storage is not available.<\/li>\n<li>Dirty rooms will result in a housekeeping charge.<\/li>\n<li>A limited number of carts will be available at the Carmichael College front desk for move-out needs.\u00a0 Students should return carts to the desk after use.\u00a0 Carts should not be stored in student rooms or left in hallways\/outside.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a vehicle to load, please visit the Carmichael College desk for a vehicle dashboard pass.\u00a0 Please adhere to the 30-minute limit.\u00a0 Vehicles that load in restricted areas, block the flow of traffic, or exceed the 30-minute limit are subject to ticketing\/removal.<\/li>\n<li>Students scheduled to reside in summer housing through the end of the summer term (Saturday, August 8) will receive information in mid-July July regarding moving directly to fall assignments.\u00a0 Fall 2026 off-campus residents and students not enrolling in courses for the fall 2026 semester must vacate summer housing no later than Saturday, August 8 at 9 a.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Check-Out Procedures:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Step 1:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pack and remove all personal items<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all drawers, cabinets, closets, etc. are free of all personal items and trash<\/li>\n<li>Arrange pickup and remove any rental items (Blackstar beds, Hydrodore, etc.) prior to moving out of summer housing<\/li>\n<li>Take all trash and recyclables to the proper outdoor receptacles<\/li>\n<li>Clean your space (sweep, dust, and wipe down surfaces)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Step 2:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the Summer Check-Out Form in the Housing Portal under the Applications and Forms menu when you are ready to depart.\u00a0 As part of the form, you will need to upload a photo of your vacated room.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Step 3:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Return your key to the drop box located at the Carmichael College front desk.\u00a0 Envelopes are provided at the desk.\n<ul>\n<li>Failure to return a functional, university-issued key from your assigned room will result in a $125 key charge.\u00a0 Keys must
