Residential Experience strives to build community by engaging students in <\/span>enjoyable<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span><\/span> meaningful, and educational programs while also ensuring that students are connected to <\/span><\/span>support networks and experiential learning <\/span><\/span><\/span>opportunities<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span> With the support of professional <\/span><\/span>and student staff, including Head Resident Advisors and Resident Advisors, Residential Experience aims to maintain safe and clean environments where students can thrive and find belonging. <\/span>Residential Experience<\/span> highly values the interco nnected nature of a college campus and strives for successful collaboration in the endeavor to see all <\/span>students thrive as they pursue a Vanderbilt education.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Residential Experience is a close partner of the <\/span><\/span>Residential College<\/span>s<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. Together both teams support the wellbeing and growth of students <\/span>living<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span> on<\/span> the <\/span>Ingram<\/span> Commons and <\/span>in <\/span>upper-division<\/span> Re<\/span>sidential Colleges<\/span>. Residential Experience<\/span><\/span> strives to support Residential Colleges staff and faculty in their efforts to fuse academic and residential experiences for Vanderbilt students. We <\/span><\/span>cultivate connectedness amo<\/span><\/span><\/span>ng our staff and residential faculty and work together toward common goals.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vanderbilt places a major emphasis on the care and wellbeing of all students. Both professional staff and student staff are trained to support students who may be experiencing various challenges (e.g., mental health, academic), especially so that staff can connect students with campus resources to support students as they navigate these challenges. Residential Experience encourages students experiencing any type of wellbeing concern where they may need additional support to fill out the Student Care Coordination Intake Form<\/a>. We urge any student in immediate crisis to connect with UCC Urgent Care Counseling<\/a> at (615) 322-2571. If you know of a student who may need additional support, you are encouraged to submit a Student of Concern form<\/a>, so the university can make a concerted effort to offer outreach and appropriate support resources. At the heart of the residential experience are student staff members: Head Resident Advisors and Resident Advisors. Head Resident Advisors lead their communities and their Resident Advisor staff members under the supervision of full-time professional Area Coordinators and Graduate Area Coordinators. <\/span><\/span>Head Resident Advisors and Resident Advisors are responsible for planning programs for their residents, connecting them to engagement opportunities and campus resources, and serving on duty to provide <\/span><\/span>for<\/span><\/span><\/span> after-hours need<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span><\/span> such as a lockout. Student staff help as well with the adher<\/span>ence <\/span><\/span>to<\/span><\/span><\/span> Vanderbilt\u2019s<\/span> <\/span>student handbook<\/span><\/span><\/a>. All community members are asked to <\/span><\/span>report any violation<\/span><\/span><\/a> to the student handbook <\/span><\/span>to maintain the <\/span>safety<\/span> and int<\/span>egrity of the greater Vanderbilt community.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All residents are highly encouraged to get in touch and cultivate a connection with their Resident Advisors<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span><\/span> as this connection will support them in many ways throughout their residential experience.
