Postdoctoral Researcher - Gonzales Lab

Department Biomedical Engineering
Full Description

Prof. Daniel Gonzales’s laboratory at ÎåÒ»²è¹Ý¶ù in the Department of Biomedical Engineering has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher. The research group operates at the intersection of neuroscience and engineering with the goal of understanding motor learning, neural circuit computations, and the mechanisms of neurological diseases. Our key technologies are flexible, transparent microelectrodes that we combine with in vivo imaging for months-long electrical and optical access to neural tissue. More information about the laboratory can be found at .

We are currently seeking a postdoctoral researcher to lead studies using brain-computer interface (BCI) tasks to study neural coding in the rodent cortex. This project is highly interdisciplinary and involves manufacturing flexible microelectrode arrays, performing surgical procedures in rodents, training rodents on behavioral tasks, and recording in vivo electrophysiology combined with simultaneous two-photon imaging. We will consider PhD-level candidates with expertise from all backgrounds spanning neuroscience and engineering. An ideal candidate will have experience with in vivo electrophysiology and rodent behavioral training.

Application Details

Interested candidates should submit a CV, contact information for three references, and a cover letter (1 pg. max). In the cover letter, please include: i) a summary of your previous research, ii) the expertise you bring to the described position, iii) how this postdoctoral training will contribute to your long-term goals. Materials can be sent to Prof. Daniel Gonzales at Daniel.gonzales@vanderbilt.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately.
